Climate-Smart Agriculture

Herders (M/W) are aware of climatic change but do not know how to address it. Value chains are weakly developed, and household marketing power is limited, which encourages producers to use less productive and environmentally damaging methods. Herders identify practical knowledge, adaptation technology, labour and financial capacity as barriers to CCA.

We will address CCA, income generation and herders’ risk tolerance while improving access to CSA inputs and finance to stimulate CSA/AgNBS adoption (INO 1100). Women have constrained decision-making power because of lack of ownership, unpaid duties and physical separation for children’s education. We will support women’s participation and leadership and strengthening government to provide services and implement policy and regulation.
